Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for October! This time featuring Ione and Elm from Two Twisted Crowns by @rmgillig !

Rachel created a really compelling theme between the two female leads in the second book, I noticed. One trapped in her mind, the other trapped in her body, both clawing to escape.

It's been a couple of years since I started workin

It's been a couple of years since I started working on these edges for the @litjoycrate edition of the Grishaverse series by @lbardugo . Now that the last set is released, I can drop my stock pile of illustrations!

I believe the original pitch was to have silhouettes of a selected group of characters with a prominent location featured on each book. I pulled back the 'silhouette' a bit to give more details to the characters which is why they are primarily lacking facial expressions, cast in dark shadows. There's a certain nuance when you remove the eyes from a character. There is less of an immediate connection and your attention is instead finding another place to land.

I think one of my favorite parts of this was combing through each of the series to find the 4 little symbol motifs framing the characters for each book. I'm happy that all of these little details were able to show up on the final printed edges! (they all look amazing!)

Happy Great Holiday!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful and safe holiday season with their friends and family!

I didn't have time for my annual bookish Christmas Tree this year, but I'm going off to celebrate with someone else's tree later today! 🥳🎄

I'll leave you with this Legend snow globe I made last year in the height of "Spectacular" hype! I made six of these and sent them out to the team who worked with me on the book. It doesn't have water (I didn't want to risk leaking on electronics) but it has a spectacular light up feature and a hilarious humbug to keep me company at my work desk.

Calling all Circuit crafters!

I wanted to highlight one of the fun seasonal benefits I offer my Cake Tier Patreon Members: A Digital Papercraft Kit!

Each season, my Patreon members vote on adapting one of my past papercrafts into a downloadable kit for more experienced crafters to whip out their Cricut and craft their very own papercraft!

We just voted in this season's kit: Pas De Deux, a very in-season Nutcracker inspired papercraft. Which has been remastered from the original piece (third slide) and is available for the rest of the season~

Each kit is a downloadable packet of files which includes @cricut / @silhouette.inc ready SVG files and a detailed set of guides and tips on assembly.

Programs required: Cricut Design space (or equivalent), PSD compatible graphic program such as Photoshop, or GIMP (Free to download)

Please note that this does not include step-by-step instructions like my physical papercraft kits. Assembly is managed through PSD files. Paper, frames, and other crafting supplies are not included with this kit. This kit is not for sale and for personal use only.

This one is one of my more advanced kits, so if you're interested in building one but want to try something a little more beginner friendly, I have many other kits at different difficulty levels available on my Patreon (under Digital Downloads) included in the Cake Tier membership.

Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish inspired by Rose in Chains by @juliesotowrites , voted by my lovely Patreon members for the month of September!

I listened to this book prompted by the SAW poll and didn't know what kind of scene to look out for since I was given a blank prompt. But even after finishing this book, this scene stood out as my favorite. I love the type of trope where the main character is misrepresenting the actions of their 'enemy' love-interest. (this happens a lot in The Folk of the Air, if you recall).

I knew exactly what was happening here, even only a few chapters in, and even with Briony gaslighting herself. I was sitting on my hands for that green dress to make its flashback debut. PEAK. 🤌✨

Looking back, I had originally thought this scene took place in the middle of night, but forgot that it was right at sunrise. This immediately changed the color scheme of the piece (some mentioned it looked refreshing!). Coming on the heels of the recent 'Pledge Our Troth' piece I did of Jude and Cardan, how is it that a simple pledge and quick peck is so much more monumental than a multi-month lead up to a wedding?
