Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for July, featuring Sybil, Rory and the gargoyle from THE KNIGHT AND THE MOTH by @rmgillig !

This one is a symbolic interpretation of one of the scenes in the book where Sybil divines for Rory. The gargoyle dragging Sybil down, yet clinging to her desperately because he wishes to escape with her. Rory is gently pulling them both up, away from their old ties to the Cathedral, yet not forcing it.

Dropping the papercraft I made for the latest mug collaboration with @illumicrate ! This time themed after THE LAST TALE OF THE FLOWER BRIDE by @roshanichokshi ! This was a book on my TBR, but finally picked it up after being requested to do this mug and it is jam PACKED with symbolism and metaphors, there was too many to include in this papercraft.

If you're curious about this book, I'd say that it would liken it as mature cousin to Bridge to Terabithia, The Night Circus, Starless Sea and even The Secret Garden. It has fantastical writing and characters building their own worlds and rules, although it leans more into the mystery/investigative-ish aspects than the fantasy. There's an undercurrent of unease on both sides of each POV, but that's something that I personally enjoy (especially in Fae or urban fantasy - it's boring if it's all sunshine and rainbows with low stakes)

I want to also say that while I predicted the twist a few chapters before it happened because of the carefully laid clues; it's one of those twists that wants to make you re-read the book to see everything from a new perspective. And it wasn't a "Oh, I know what's going to happen" prediction, it was more "OH NO, IS THAT WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN??"...and it did, and I was still shocked. Definitely recommend!

Next from the art hoard: the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for May! Featuring Rhys, Feyre and their meeting with the Bone Carver from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas!

The moment Rhys broke the tension with his knee-hurting-when-it-rains secret, and the Bone Carver busting out laughing was my favorite moment. It cleverly showed the professional respect they have for each other, even though they're definitely not bosom friends. It also emphasizes how much the Bone Carver adheres to his own rules when he accepts it. It makes him such a charming little monster.

Heyy everyone! It's been a while and I'm behind on posting a few artworks! Starting off with the art for the papercraft and illustration I did for the @fairyloot edition of Where the Library Hides by Isabel Ibañez @isabelibanezbooks !

First up is the papercraft, which was inspired by one of the climatic scenes, but I transplanted them to a different background from a prominent setting in the book, including the shelves of scrolls behind the pair. I told myself after the Book Eaters Papercraft I would NEVER quill in a papercraft again, but I betrayed myself! Everyone of those golden circles became a quilled scroll and I withered all over again. 😫 (But the elation of seeing the final result has no match!)

I mentioned in a recent post how I love to create echoing art. And I also mentioned previously how intimidating it is to make designs for a book series that is unfinished, not knowing what to look forward to with the future designs. I'm really happy how the dust jackets were able to work with each other, but even more so with the endpapers! How else could I have replicated the flowing river from the first book's endpaper with not but a sidewinding ouroboros? I'm so grateful to Isabel for making it so easy for me with this concept by including this symbol in the book! And I don't know about you, but after Night-Glimmer, I'm really loving the opportunities to draw MMCs from the back. 🤭

I want to thank Fairyloot and Isabel for the opportunity to work on this dazzling duology! It promised to scratch The Mummy itch we have all been having for years, and I am well and thoroughly scratched. 🤌 (Not to be weird)

Dropping the final Bonus Sketch-a-Wish of 2024, frequently requested by my lovely Patreon members! Featuring Hart and Mercy from THE UNDERTAKING OF HART AND MERCY by Megan Bannen!

Between this and Divine Rivals, I was being well fed with You've Got Mail retellings (my favorite rom-com, fireElmo.gif). This one had a fun and unique paranormal spin on it, but still felt very grounded and cozy as we progressed through the story beats, even against the back drop of death and afterlife. 🤌✨

Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for April! A scene from The Wicked King by @blackholly , Cardan and Jude pledging their troth.

This scene was nondescript on the type of flowers that were blooming in the king's chambers as they were professing their vows to each other. But given how they were both adamant that their marriage would be utilitarian and short lived, I feel like the room blooming over head was a sign that it was more permanent than they realized, hence the wisteria and its meaning. 🤭

Dropping a new papercraft, commissioned by the wonderful @laurarsamotin, inspired by her upcoming novel THE LURE OF THEIR GRAVES, sequel to THE SINS ON THEIR BONES - due to be released in June!

Firstly, I'm so happy that Laura was able to provide a copy of the sequel for me to design this piece. I'm always a big fan of creating papercraft echoes, and this design wonderfully matches the first papercraft with a new arrangement of characters and a new assortment of emotions that I could only capture after experiencing this wonderful book!

I raved about TSOTB with my last papercraft, and now Laura has dropped us what we all hoped to be a happily ever after for Dimitri and his court. But winning back the crown comes with it the harsh choices between the responsibilities of ruling his country and his personal desires -- all the while the shadows of Dimitri's haunted past are still biting at his heels.

If THE SINS ON THEIR BONES was a exploration on processing grief, THE LURE OF THEIR GRAVES is certainly a voyage on navigating heartbreak. I hope you all enjoy the new release! Bring some tissues!
