Dropping the next-in-line Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for the month of March! (yesssss I'm so behind, but April and May are already finished and will be posting those soon!)

Featuring Kaine and Helena from Alchemised by @senlinyuwrites ! I went back and forth a lot on how to compose this, since the prompt had asked to show them both watching the ship sail off into the horizon. I considered viewing them from the front, but there would be no context of the ship. So this pose from behind is still canon (they both look at each other) and everything is in shot! But oof, this meant double-whammy awkward face angles!

Dead Beat Drop Day!

A little while ago, @lbardugo shared a teaser of a handful of NINTH HOUSE themed tarot cards I was commissioned to illustrate! They will be handing out sets at the DEAD BEAT tour locations. (Apparently it's a random chance of receiving Darlington or the Demon? Ooooh) These are not available through my shops, just at the tour events!

This was a wonderful project to whet my appetite for DEAD BEAT and the concept is SO my jam; a mash up of the roles each character played during the Gauntlet against the symbolic imagery of their tarot counterparts. Take a few minutes to look up each of the tarot cards and glean how they address each character, if you're a trivia nut like I am.

I'm already several chapters into DEAD BEAT, and after visiting Yale earlier this spring, everything is so visual in my head as they journey around campus. Also, I've never hit the 30-sec-back button as many times on an audiobook before - there's so many good moments to replay already. Hope everyone enjoys the read and the tour events! (I'm a peanut butter and jealous sandwich)

"Give Them Hell"

Heyyy everyone!

It's been a while since I posted some new art, and I have a stock piled up, including this one! One more sleep until DEAD BEAT by @lbardugo drops! My sleep schedule is upside down right now, so I will be catching sleep right after this and listening to it right when it drops at midnight tonight. 😈

These are HUGE papercraft characters (4 times the average size) but I wanted to get in some extra details with the horns. Inspired by the very end of HELL BENT, capturing the dynamic duo of Alex raising/razing hell with her Demon guardian. Plus, celebrating that this is the first time in ALL of the fanarts I've created that I get to finally draw Alex's tattoos! 🙌🐍

I would have love to attend one of the tour stops, especially in New Haven, but I went from a debilitating back injury that took about 3 weeks heal right into catching a flu or cold last week during a family visit, this month has just been... rough. Gonna rest up before the conference season starts in October, so I hope you all enjoy the DB tour! (I'll repost here those fun tarot cards you can collect tomorrow!)

Exactly a month ago tonight, I returned home from the ER vet with an empty leash. It was suddenly the worst day of my dog's life, but we had a wonderful 13 years before then. This is not the first time that I've lost a pet, but as a dog, it was the first one that I've lost that was so intertwined with my daily routine. I was lost for the next few days. Chastising myself for habits that were painful reminders.

Still walking over the yoga mats I put down to prevent him from slipping. Still latching the bathroom door that prevented him from eating the cat food. Still reaching for the button to let the rear passenger window down for him. Still checking the weather to see if it's cool enough for him to walk.

Whenever a close friend or relative lost a pet, I'd gift them a small papercraft with my condolences. This one was hard to get started and finished.

I miss our walks. I miss playing our hide and seek games. I miss buying you puzzles and watching you figuring out how to cheat. I miss you being excited about Outback Steakhouse as much as I am. I miss you understanding my words and me understanding your gestures.

I miss you, buddy.
