Last year I mentioned how Scarlet x Wolf reunion from The Lunar Chronicles (by @marissameyerauthor) was one of my favorite literary reunions I've read (alongside AFTG). I've had this sketch in the works since then, only I offered two different versions to my Patreon members to vote on. But I loved both poses so much that I ended up finishing both. Oops!

This is now the third illustration in an accumulating 🌶️quartet - Winter and Jacin has to be next of course! And my favorite scene of Winter and Jacin is probably not one that you'd first expect?

The time has come! I'm sure there will be a lot of businesses following suit now that we're approaching a year from when IMG took over SJM licensing. But I want thank Writer's House for the generous grace period they allowed us to have while we waited for our applications to be considered.

Unfortunately, I have not heard back from IMG and am now in a sell off period of all of my Sarah J. Maas licensed merch from now until May 15, 2026. After that time, all merchandise will be removed from both of my shops (link in bio)

The last items I was allowed to license are never-before-announced Page Overlays for three of my artworks. They are available for Pre-order and will be shipping out late April after I return from BookCon 2026.

It may seem bitter for many people with how this licensing transition was handled, but it's hard for us to understand looking from the outside in how things are progressing behind the scenes. I'm walking away feeling grateful, and here is why:

Before 2020, licensed merch was shunned for being too 'corporate'. People would purposely purchase unofficial merch to support small shops.

I remember only seeing a few handful of creators having a 'license' to sell merch. That was unheard of. So I sent an email right at the time SJM opened licensing to the masses and BOOM. Suddenly I'm a licensed seller for a juggernaut fandom. They made a really easy pathway so everyone from all corners of the market could become a licensed seller and the bookish economy exploded (remember the SJM dust jacket tsunami?)

SJM as a huge author streamlining small business licensing carved a path, making it comfortable for other authors and agencies to open up licensing to small businesses/creators. The culture around licensed merch drastically shifted among the consumer base from being shunned to being sought out. So while we're parting ways for now, I can't help but be grateful to SJM and her team at Writer's House for becoming the rising tide for small business licensing in the bookish community. We're still riding that wave years later.

Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for December! Featuring Katniss and Peeta from Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, when they take a day off on the roof of the Capitol training center!

It's been a while since I've seen the Hunger Games movies, and working on this whetted my appetite, so I jumped straight from Catching Fire. It was sad that they skipped this scene though, I could tell the exact moment it was cut. ✌️😐

Last year I had the fun opportunity to illustrate the end papers for the German Deluxe Editons of the Culpa Mia series by @mercedesronn ! I absolutely loved the "hot" pastel colors of the series and carried that into the art design with some fun textures.

I'm sure my Patreon members are tired of me saying it, but the one thing that I couldn't stand was drawing Nick with his pants hanging down, underwear showing. Bleh! Like forcing an author to include "moist" in every chapter.

This is one of those series that has not one, but two successful live action adaptations! We seem to be getting a lot of those lately, and I'm glad 'We're running out of ideas" Hollywood is finally catching on that there is a mine of gold in the bookish world.

What book series would you like to see adapted? I'd love to see A Tempest of Tea get picked up for a live action series, and since I have Agnes Aubert on my mind 24/7, would love to see that get animated!

Hello! I'm seeing the FL Caraval editions are starting to appear in the wild 👀 and I was kinda surprised, thinking there were a few more weeks before they shipped! 😱 So excited to see the finished effects of all of the artwork (including the brilliant and beautiful dust jackets by @andrewdavis_designs !)

This reminded me that I have two new Spectacular artworks to reveal, from a project last year for the @lebookclubpageturners Special edition of SPECTACULAR by @stephanie_garber , where they transformed the book into an advent calendar! How cool!?

These two artworks, styled to match the Spectacular illustrations, were one of the daily gifts you could receive when you opened an envelope!

Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish voted on by my lovely Patreon members for November! Featuring Iris and Roman from Divine Rivals by @beccajross , whom I just recently met while she was touring with Isabel Ibañez!

One interesting factoid I learned during their conversation was how they congruently write and critique each other's books. They consider Letters of Enchantment and Secrets of the Nile spiritual siblings, as an example. Very apt, since I was working on this while listening to Graceless Heart, @isabelibanezbooks latest release! (Assignment understood!)

This has been a long-requested scene, and a twisty way to sneak in the 'there was only one bed' trope, hah! But this one is so handsy! Their facial expressions are hilariously reserved, but their hands hold no secrets!

I had the weirdest nostalgia rendering the duffle bags, because I remember from my childhood my dad having one when he was in the military. It was just a giant 4 x 1 ft denim tube sock with a string closure at the top, and I thought it would have been the worst digging out whatever was at the bottom.

I was grateful to read an early copy from #DelReyBooks to deep-dive into Heather's crafted new world, and I'm not exaggerating when I say this was my TOP read at the end of last year. This was the first time I've wanted a stand-alone to not be a stand-alone, as Agnes and Havelock and all of the shelter kitties are my new obsession!

In the book, Agnes Aubert is on the search for a new space after her cat shelter was collaterally damaged by a spontaneous magician street duel. She ends up unwittingly leasing a new space from Havelock Renard, the First Dark Mage who infamously almost caused the apocalypse -- a worst case scenario for Agnes when magic is outlawed. Agnes is adamant on keeping her cats safe and her charity sensible, but soon her no-nonsense policies clash with Havelock's stubborn personality and his precarious dealings in magic, bringing the attention of the authorities and other unexpected magical dangers to her doorstep.

Please sit down and enjoy this cozy fantasy set in 1920's Montréal, packed with bejeweled magicians, magical pastries, and the ultimate cat distribution system!
