Last year I had the fun opportunity to illustrate the end papers for the German Deluxe Editons of the Culpa Mia series by @mercedesronn ! I absolutely loved the "hot" pastel colors of the series and carried that into the art design with some fun textures.

I'm sure my Patreon members are tired of me saying it, but the one thing that I couldn't stand was drawing Nick with his pants hanging down, underwear showing. Bleh! Like forcing an author to include "moist" in every chapter.

This is one of those series that has not one, but two successful live action adaptations! We seem to be getting a lot of those lately, and I'm glad 'We're running out of ideas" Hollywood is finally catching on that there is a mine of gold in the bookish world.

What book series would you like to see adapted? I'd love to see A Tempest of Tea get picked up for a live action series, and since I have Agnes Aubert on my mind 24/7, would love to see that get animated!

Hello! I'm seeing the FL Caraval editions are starting to appear in the wild 👀 and I was kinda surprised, thinking there were a few more weeks before they shipped! 😱 So excited to see the finished effects of all of the artwork (including the brilliant and beautiful dust jackets by @andrewdavis_designs !)

This reminded me that I have two new Spectacular artworks to reveal, from a project last year for the @lebookclubpageturners Special edition of SPECTACULAR by @stephanie_garber , where they transformed the book into an advent calendar! How cool!?

These two artworks, styled to match the Spectacular illustrations, were one of the daily gifts you could receive when you opened an envelope!

"Familiar Ground" Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wi

Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish voted on by my lovely Patreon members for November! Featuring Iris and Roman from Divine Rivals by @beccajross , whom I just recently met while she was touring with Isabel Ibañez!

One interesting factoid I learned during their conversation was how they congruently write and critique each other's books. They consider Letters of Enchantment and Secrets of the Nile spiritual siblings, as an example. Very apt, since I was working on this while listening to Graceless Heart, @isabelibanezbooks latest release! (Assignment understood!)

This has been a long-requested scene, and a twisty way to sneak in the 'there was only one bed' trope, hah! But this one is so handsy! Their facial expressions are hilariously reserved, but their hands hold no secrets!

I had the weirdest nostalgia rendering the duffle bags, because I remember from my childhood my dad having one when he was in the military. It was just a giant 4 x 1 ft denim tube sock with a string closure at the top, and I thought it would have been the worst digging out whatever was at the bottom.

I'm delighted to drop this new artwork, commissioned by the wonderful team at @delreybooks to celebrate the upcoming release of AGNES AUBERT’S MYSTICAL CAT SHELTER by @heather_fawcett!

I was grateful to read an early copy from #DelReyBooks to deep-dive into Heather's crafted new world, and I'm not exaggerating when I say this was my TOP read at the end of last year. This was the first time I've wanted a stand-alone to not be a stand-alone, as Agnes and Havelock and all of the shelter kitties are my new obsession!

In the book, Agnes Aubert is on the search for a new space after her cat shelter was collaterally damaged by a spontaneous magician street duel. She ends up unwittingly leasing a new space from Havelock Renard, the First Dark Mage who infamously almost caused the apocalypse -- a worst case scenario for Agnes when magic is outlawed. Agnes is adamant on keeping her cats safe and her charity sensible, but soon her no-nonsense policies clash with Havelock's stubborn personality and his precarious dealings in magic, bringing the attention of the authorities and other unexpected magical dangers to her doorstep.

Please sit down and enjoy this cozy fantasy set in 1920's Montréal, packed with bejeweled magicians, magical pastries, and the ultimate cat distribution system!

"Unmake Me" Dropping the first papercraft of the

"Unmake Me"

Dropping the first papercraft of the year, and the first full papercraft I've personally done in 4 years (if you exclude commissions and standees). I was grateful to catch one of the limited theatrical screenings of Guillermo del Toro's (@gdtreal) Frankenstein (2025) at the end of last year and I think we can all agree this scene was one of the stand-out moments in the film. But there were also several themes that hit me with such a powerful resonation, I felt like my soul was sucked into the film and split between the mind of Victor and the heart of the Creature.

Firstly, how could I have not captured this scene in papercraft? Assembling the Creature from scraps of paper, moments before he's meant to become scraps himself. It allowed me to step into Victor's shoes, and relive the obsessive pursuit he describes in the film, only to suddenly meet his goal and aimlessly fumble with what he's created, chaining it in the dungeon, out of sight and mind. I similarly find myself, after tireless nights of dedicated crafting, throwing my completed papercrafts into my closet, documented, abandoned, eager to start the next one.

Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for October! This time featuring Ione and Elm from Two Twisted Crowns by @rmgillig !

Rachel created a really compelling theme between the two female leads in the second book, I noticed. One trapped in her mind, the other trapped in her body, both clawing to escape.

It's been a couple of years since I started workin

It's been a couple of years since I started working on these edges for the @litjoycrate edition of the Grishaverse series by @lbardugo . Now that the last set is released, I can drop my stock pile of illustrations!

I believe the original pitch was to have silhouettes of a selected group of characters with a prominent location featured on each book. I pulled back the 'silhouette' a bit to give more details to the characters which is why they are primarily lacking facial expressions, cast in dark shadows. There's a certain nuance when you remove the eyes from a character. There is less of an immediate connection and your attention is instead finding another place to land.

I think one of my favorite parts of this was combing through each of the series to find the 4 little symbol motifs framing the characters for each book. I'm happy that all of these little details were able to show up on the final printed edges! (they all look amazing!)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful and safe holiday season with their friends and family!

I didn't have time for my annual bookish Christmas Tree this year, but I'm going off to celebrate with someone else's tree later today! 🥳🎄

I'll leave you with this Legend snow globe I made last year in the height of "Spectacular" hype! I made six of these and sent them out to the team who worked with me on the book. It doesn't have water (I didn't want to risk leaking on electronics) but it has a spectacular light up feature and a hilarious humbug to keep me company at my work desk.
